History

Wooden was formed in 2019, by the two brothers Bilal and Youssef. Formerly known as Dark River Side, the original formation of the band dates back to 2009, and was founded by lifelong friends, Youssef and Darius, a cover band playing local talent shows. After a long hiatus from 2014 to 2018, the band reformed under the new name Wooden with new members and started writing original material . The band has taken many influences into their songwriting, ranging from traditionnal to extreme metal, with a sound similar to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Pantera, Children Of Bodom, Avenged Sevenfold and many more.

The band released their first single ''The Monster'' on march 14th 2024 and was featured on Metaluniverse.net, GMPQ media, The Circle Pit and The New Wave Of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM). Wooden released their self-titled debut album on October 18th 2024, and featured six songs. The album has been called by fans as ''the perfect mix of old school and modern metal'', with the different influences being heard in each song.

Wooden has shared the stage with multiple bands such as The Anchor, Execution Day, Burning Attic, Descape, In Dissaray, Meet The Mailman, Mistwalker, Drowning In Blood, Tales Of Destiny, Noor, Chuzo and many more.

The meaning behind the band name Wooden is representative of the eternal life of a tree, even after it dies, the timber is used and carries on its life, a metaphor for the eternity of heavy metal music, and how the band wishes to carry that torch for the next generations.
